French bulldog is an extremely adorable, enjoyable & intelligent domestic dog of small breed. The loyal and loving nature of French bulldog makes them a brilliant companion dog. French bulldog is small, muscular and has heavy bone structure with slightly rounded skull. This bulldog is 11-13 inches tall and has weight about 22-28 pounds. French bulldogs can be either small or medium in their overall sizes and have a dwarf mastiff appearance. He has broad square head, deep muzzle with unique & upright "bat" ears. His coat is short, dense and smooth. General coat colors of this dog are: brindle, white, brindle and white, and fawn. He is friendly dog with a cheerful look as if he constantly has a smile on his face.

French bulldog is an average shading dog so he does not require a lot of grooming, just regular combing with firm-bristle brush is enough, and bathing should only be done when it is really required. In order to prevent infection, facial wrinkles should be wiped regularly. Nails of this bulldog should be kept short with the ear passages clean.

French bulldog History

Since 19th century, French bulldogs are considered the upshot of lace makers in England who decided to make a smaller, miniature, lap version of the English bulldog that referred to a toy bulldog. In 1860s, these craftsmen were forced to leave England for France after being deprived by the industrialization of lace making and at that point of time they brought their dogs with them to France. These dogs then gained lots of popularity there and got famous with the name "French Bulldog".
